报告摘要：

This study offers empirical evidence for technology spillovers that enterprises gain through integration into global value chains via processing trade. Event study estimates reveal that the likelihood of patent application among Chinese domestic enterprises increases by 1.4%, approximately doubling the mean probability. Importantly, it is not attributable to the information effects nor is it manifest among foreign enterprises originating from developed countries. These findings substantiate that domestic enterprises assimilate foreign technology through learning-by-processing. Further empirical investigations show that participation in processing trade enhances both the ordinary export value and product quality.
